چکیده

Ovarian cancer is a common and complex malignancy with poor prognostic outcome. Most women ovarian are diagnosed advanced stage disease due to lack of effective detection strategies in the early stage. Traditional treatment cytoreductive surgery platinum-based combination chemotherapy has not significantly improved prognosis 5-year survival rates still extremely poor. Therefore, novel needed improve patients. Recent advances next generation sequencing technologies have both confirmed previous known mutated genes discovered candidate cancer. In this review, we illustrate recent identifying gene mutations, including those TP53, BRCA1/2, PIK3CA, KRAS genes. addition, discuss targeting therapies for based on these Further, associate between mutation by liquid biopsy potential diagnostic value

Cancer stem cells: therapeutic targets

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been identified as rare cellular populations in many cancers, including leukemia and solid tumors. This minor subpopulation of cancerous cells is immortal tumor-initiating cells which thought to be responsible for cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, recurrence and drug/radiation resistance. Low proliferative rate, high self-renewing capacity, differentiatio...

Gene expression profiling in bladder cancer identifies potential therapeutic targets

Despite advances in management, bladder cancer remains a major cause of cancer related complications. Characterisation of gene expression patterns in bladder cancer allows the identification of pathways involved in its pathogenesis, and may stimulate the development of novel therapies targeting these pathways. Between 2004 and 2005, cystoscopic bladder biopsies were obtained from 19 patients an...

Potential therapeutic targets of Guggulsterone in cancer

Natural compounds capable of inducing apoptosis in cancer cells have always been of considerable interest as potential anti-cancer agents. Many such compounds are under screening and development with their potential evolution as a clinical drug benefiting many of the cancer patients. Guggulsterone (GS), a phytosterol isolated gum resin of the tree Commiphora mukul has been widely used in Indian...

Somatic mutations in salivary duct carcinoma and potential therapeutic targets

Background Salivary duct carcinomas (SDCa) are rare highly aggressive malignancies. Most patients die from distant metastatic disease within three years of diagnosis. There are limited therapeutic options for disseminated disease. Results 11 cases showed androgen receptor expression and 6 cases showed HER2 amplification. 6 Somatic mutations with additional available targeted therapies were id...
